In 2020 Covid hit our shores with it bringing lockdowns, isolation, panic buying, masks, fear and uncertainty. It also brought a time for the world to heal, with it giving scientists a once in a lifetime opportunity to observe what happens when you take humans out of the world and see animals reclaim what was once theirs. 

David Attenborough was barely able to contain his excitement in his documentary The Year Earth Changed looked in-depth at the positive impact Covid had on the world due to all the lockdowns and reduced travel.

How to Notice When Someone is Struggling

In this day and age, it can be so easy to be focused on yourself and not notice when people are struggling. It can also be hard to notice when people are struggling as let’s be honest no one wants to ask for help or look like they need it. There are some signs to look for that can indicate if someone is struggling and while it might take a while to see them to begin with, eventually it will become second nature to you.

Talking to Someone About Your Mental Health

Having a mental illness or mental health struggles can be isolating and can be hard to talk about.

There’s a quote from a TV show that sticks out to me even after all these years: When you don’t tell people what’s inside your head it only gets worse.

It’s a quote that I am reminded of when people tell me they are struggling and unsure where to turn to or they are afraid of judgement.

I can't believe that the Olympics are almost over and while I am not normally a sports person I have really enjoyed watching Australia compete. Seeing people break records, their personal bests, sportsmanship and that despite the challenges of Covid things running smoothly.

Why Simone Biles can Show us That Mental Health is Just as Important as Physical Health

On Tuesday night one of the greatest gymnasts Simone Biles pulled out of the team finals at the Olympics, shocking everyone. It (unsurprisingly) made headlines around the world when she decided to withdraw from the competition. Simone Biles has taken the sport to new levels (literally) but has also struggled mentally. She has been open about her mental health and how she struggled when the Olympics were postponed to this year and the toll that took. So, while it was still a shock it didn’t come as a complete surprise when it was revealed she withdrew from the competition due to mental health reasons.
