Fitness trackers are wearable devices or computer applications that record a person’s daily physical activity and capture data relating to fitness or health, such as the number of calories burned, heart rate, steps taken etc. These devices aren’t anything new and have been around for many years. Talking About Sexual Consent

Sexual consent has become a big topic of interest and only more so with the “me too” movement. More recently it has made news with new consent laws coming into place in NSW. Which poses the question will all the other states follow suit?

Sexual consent is the permission given to do anything of sexual nature. In Australia, we have laws regarding sexual consent including the age of consent. These laws are set by each state and slightly vary. An example of this is the age of consent. In all states except for Tasmania and South Australia the age of consent is 16, in Tasmania and South Australia however the age of consent is 17. This means that it is against the law to have sex with someone who is under that age and doing so is a criminal offence.

Chronic Health Conditions and Mental Health

A lot of things can impact your mental health but a big one is chronic health conditions. A Chronic health condition is anything that can be defined as lasting over a year and requires ongoing treatment and/or limits your daily activities. Examples of chronic health conditions include things like diabetes, mental illness, consistent pain, skin conditions like eczema, asthma, and allergies. It is estimated that half of all Australians have at least one chronic health condition with many having multiple (the chances of which increase as people age).

What is Burnout and How to Prevent It

Last week we mentioned burnout in our fireside chat and I realised that we don’t talk about burnout or how to prevent it enough.

Burnout is the state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged stress. It can impact all areas of your life and can even cause physical symptoms such as a weakened immune system which will leave you prone to catching colds, flus and various other illnesses which may linger longer than usual, increased heart rate and insomnia.
